Presents blown down from TS Faye-anyone know thier names?

Birdcage Project -found this at the Habitat for Humanity Store full of old pine needles. My dh thought I crocked for buying it.

Here it is now sanded and painted. I want to fill it up with bromeliads and orchids etc. It is hanging in the screenroom where it gets indirect light.

Everythig looks great! I really like the Dorthea and Rosalla. I bid on rosalla a few times when it was on ebay but it went out of my price range. The pitcher plant is cool, I am always tempted to order one but don't know if I could keep one alive. Are they hard to grow? I also really like the birdcage idea, it turned out nice and will look great filled with plants.

All so pretty! Love the dancing girls..that is so cool.
Great idea for the birdcage, youdid a great job refinishing it..I bet it's gonna look awesome with the plants in it! That ginger flower really does resemble a scorpion.

Lenette, I sure wished I lived in Florida. Your plants and blooms are beautiful. I love your Rosalla. All the others are great too ! The bird cage will look beautiful, once you fill it, post a picture, I'd like to see it. I have never seen anything like what Faye blew you down. She left me with downed Brugs and tree limbs all over...LOL

Wow, you are really getting some unusual plants there in Florida. I love them all, lol. I saw the very coolest pink ginger today that the flowers looked like giant bromeliads. I wanted it so bad but didn't have much money with me and it said morning sun only and I don't have much of that and it was a zone 10 plant so another one in the garage, lol. I had to leave it there. Those look like the air plants I see glued onto things for sale every now and then. I just mist them with water a couple times a day. I don't have them anymore. They died when we went out of town. They like humidity is all I know. I always wanted a pitcher plant too but didn't know how to take care of one. How is yours potted? Do they have to be wet all the time?

Lenette, You've been holding out on pictures of your garden.LOL Everything looks so beautiful! Those Brugs are to die for. My list is getting longer by the minute! That Hib is a gorgeous color.

I want all your plants! My Ruby Glow bloomed over the winter but nothing over the summer, weird. The vine is huge but nary a bud and it's one of my favorites. How do you keep your Medinilla alive? I love that plant but didn't have any luck with it. I want another but would love to know how not to kill it first. lol The double Rangoon Creeper is really pretty, much nicer then the single. Everything really looks beautiful.

WOW Lenette, love all your gingers, and p. Ruby Glow. This guy from our gardening group (goes by the name Animal) has Ruby Glow growing over an arbor and it is amazing! I always admire people that can pick up something old or beat up, and turn it into something beautiful, like your bird cage.

I meant to say that the bird cage came out beautiful but I was so blown away by the plants I forgot!

Thanks for the nice comments. You all make me feel better. I've been so bummed because we took our car to get a new battery and the idiot put in the wrong one with reversed terminals, and hooked the cables to the wrong terminals and blew out the alternator and some other stuff. What a pain-all I wanted was a battery!

The Ruby Glow was pretty big when I got it but it had to grow like 30ft in all directions before it ever bloomed. This is its first blooms. They are 5+ inches and smell soooo good. I think they are fall and winter bloomers.

The medinilla gets morning shade and slanted afternoon sun. I don't know if its ideal but that was the only place I had for it and it seems to like it. I repotted it in a phalanopsis mix, perlite, and a coarse potting soil. Its supposed to be a epiphyte even though it grows into a large bush. I would love to see it in its natural habitat! I gave it BB but have no idea if I should have lol. I should really look that up.
I think the TS Faye presents are some type of tillansia they grow wild in the trees here, but I don't know what they are called. They had a bunch of tiny dried up flower spikes on them.

The pitcher plant gets some indirect light all day and likes humidity. It is planted in staight peat moss and has to stay wet and I don't think its supposed to be fertilized (not sure on that), I just give it rain water.
I saw a diff. one the other day with really HUGE pitchers that had red fur stuff on the sides-I really wanted to get it but, I controlled myself for now lol.

I love the birdcage, there's a few small air plants in it now- I just gotta figure out some other stuff that doesn't get too big. It looked kinda cool they way it was but it was so rusty. I showed it to my parrot and he didn't want anything to do with it LOL!

    Great pics!
    Beautiful blooms!
Your bird cage came out wonderful.
I always wondered what a Rangoon Creeper bloom looked like.
    What is the fragrance like?
    Love the Hibiscus too.
    Thanks for sharing!

I loved the passiflora ruby glow. where did u get it? would you ever trade seeds? I'm probably in your zone, let me know if you're interested.
    Thanks

Rangoon creeper smells really sweet..not sure if I could place it -it just smells great maybe a cross of strong sweet tarts and jasmine.

Hi bri, most of the lowes and hds around here sell the Ruby glow and other passies from time to time although they aren't always labeled correctly. I have been trying to pollinate it without success. My caerulea will open pretty soon so maybe I can get fruit on it from that.

After it quits blooming I could send you a cutting though, or if you want I could try to root one, they root fairly easy with rooting hormone and water.

Beautiful Lenette. I like the cage too. I tried to get a cage like that once to do something similar with ivy but hubby couldn't see my vision, lol. If the pitcher plant needs rain water I guess I will never be able to have one boo hoo. It would die of thirst here, lol.

I like plant in the bird cage idea, it's a lot less work, and prettier. SJN, I would love to live in Florida. I was in Siesta Key, and Sanibel island last July-august, before the hurrican hit. Although, I still love the place, peoples are supper nice there.
