PLEASE help me with my living room!!

Until we are ready to take this living room out and expand our kitchen, I need help with paint, window treatments, accessories, tables, wall decor, etc..
I like neutral colors, crisp clean look.
I have to keep the furniture, carpet, and cannot change the wood color, unfortunately! (husband would be MAD!!)
With the light carpet and furniture, can I do a dark gray on the walls, and then do pillows in grays?

Hi Emily! Thank you so much for the follow up! Unfortunately I have NOT done anything with this room yet! Having to have back surgery put any/all projects on the back burner! Not to mention, there are SOOO MANY GREAT IDEAS here are on Houzz that I am having a hard time deciding what to do!
My teen daughter wants to TOTALLY MAKEOVER her bedroom into something "No One Would Have Ever Thought Of", and she asked if I'd post pictures on this site to get cool ideas, so any great ideas you might have once I post, would be greatly appreciated!

I hope when you post pics of your daughters room you will post what some of her thoughts are on redecorating, budget, colors she likes and if there is a theme. Does she want new furniture?? Looking forward to seeing the pics.

If you are still resting a lot, it might be a good time to browse Etsy.com too. There is a lot of unique home decor and art on there by artisans and craftsmans all over the US, Canada or even world that might help you. You daughter might like browsing too since it sounds like she likes unique - there is also jewelry, clothing, purses and more.

I have a photography shop, nancy hehmann on Etsy.com It is easy to use their search engine and just input what you like there! You can click on the link below and it will take you to photography from Hawaii. It is a waterfall but there are many themes and locations.

Since you plan to take this room out and expand your kitchen, I wouldn't spend money on purchasing additional furniture for it or change the paint at all. Do you have any other furniture you could move into this room (like a coffee table or rug or piano) that lives in another part of your home? You've got some pretty vases above the hall closet, you might try them in there on a coffee table or perhaps a sofa back table since the room is lacking interest. At the very least I would definitely pull the furniture off of the walls (too much empty space), get rid of the drapes (too heavy) and change out the artwork (too dated).
