Ideas Needed

I'm using a couple straw bales as a temporary wall on the down hill slope side of a tropical ginger bed. I was looking at it and wondering what kind of plant might do well planted in the bales? The bales have been there all winter so they're already breaking down some. They would need to be fast growing to cover it up, but I'm not sure what water needs would be planted that way. Probably be late this year or even next year before I get to that wall, so annuals would work or even a fast growing perennial that I could move later. Blooming and fragrant would be good, but I figure fragrant may be asking for a lot. So at least prolific and long blooming would be nice. There is a strawberry bed below it on the down side of the bales. Suggestions?
