Just last week we had two large old trees cut down on our property line. One is hollow already but the other is not. They had to leave the stumps about 3 feet high because they had barbed fencing growing right through the trees. I was thinking of putting dirt in the hollow stump and growing a clematis right out of the stump. Any good ideas how I can create a hole in the other stump? It is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet wide. Has anyone tried this? What happens as the stump rots?
