I was off work on Monday for Presidents Day and it was kinda nice out so I thought I would go out and prun my pot planted Clematis's getting them ready for the ground. They been growing in pots since I purchased them early last year. I have maybe 8 or 9 to get planted, a couple I plan to leave in their pots since the pots are maybe 15 gals or more. These will be my first in ground clematis EVER. Anyway I was out trimming them up, I have wire cages around them I made from 2"x4" wire cut into and made into a circle and I used wire zip ties to attached the wire ends together. Kinda looks like a totmatoe cage,you get the idea. I then pushed the wire into the pot after I planted the bareroot Clematis. Anyways I was prunning the vine's which was green and had all these little green buds which was hard to do, but I knew that all had to come off. When I got down to the vine at the base of the plant coming out of the dirt was all these little new 1/2" green spouts. I got so excited I all most wet my pants. Once I got the prunning done I covered them back up with leaves for protection and this Saturday i'll get them babies in the ground with some composted cowpoo and bonemeal and they will be set to show off this spring and summer. God welling they don't all get wilt. Sandy
