We purchased a large number of seed from China a few months ago including variegates, LOBs etc. These proved to be extremely slow. In trying to find out why, we have been told that the growers in China could be picking the seed before they ripen in order to get the next crop growing, ie in order to "sell". We also bought Japenese seed and while more expensive tended to be more vigourous. Nothing however beats locally grown. Just make sure the seed you get has properly matured on the plant.
