I want to grow a clematis up through my hickory tree.

looking for flowers any time or color-- but a dark color would show better, but this plant is going to need to grow huge. SAC might do it, but i was thinking about montana rubens-- but am worried about hardiness. i'm in NE Ohio--

but too far south to benefit from lake affect. so i'm really a solid zone 5.

any suggests will do.

thanks in advance i go on vacation tomorrow, so it will be awhile before i check results
