Last fall, I took cuttings of Jackmanii clematis. Only one rooted, the rest turned black. I transferred it to a pot, but it was already quite cold outside by then, so I kept it inside.

Eventually, the leaves fell off. About a month ago, I was doing some cleaning up, and was going to throw it away because I thought it was dead. When I dumped the dirt out, I discovered it had one long, 6 inch root! And it was a live root, not a dead, dried out one.

So I put dirt back in the pot, watered it, and put it under lights. However, it still has not sprouted anything up top. I don't know what to make of it. I also don't know what to make of that one long root it had, rather than a root system. Any thoughts on what's going on with this plant???
