My first thought would be to ask at the garden where you took the photo. There are so many Clems that color, identification would be very difficult.

On my computer that clematis looks blue with blue-purplish edging. One I might like to add to my garden. I will look for it when it's in bloom this August. Sometimes plants in public gardens have markers that are hidden behind foliage but often they are missing or were never marked. It's been a few years since I have gone to the Japanese garden in Como Park. Is that the only clematis growing there? If not and you can describe the location you might be able to call or e-mail Como Park and ask for an identification.

This is a good time to visit the Como Conservatory and see their spring flower display. Think we will go this Friday or Monday. I will look for a marker and/or ask.

Also, try posting on the MN forum. Maybe someone there has seen it and can identify it for you.

Maybe Rhapsody? It is described as dark blue even through the pics look purple on CotW. Mine grows in light shade and does look kind of dark blue.

I want the one I see on my computer screen in the above picture. That baby is as blue as blue gets. Yep, I gotta add that one to my NEEDS list. I know it probably will not be that exact color but I don't have anything even close to that color, but I will.. The only purple's and blue's I have are Ramona and Jack. I was out checking out my early bloomer's Asao and Ramona yesterday evening and they both have probably close to 25 new shoots coming up, anywhere from 2" to 8" tall. They both will be later this year becasue I did prun them more to clean up some of the mess from last fall. Sandy

I would go along with Katie's guess. When I was looking for the bluest clematis last year, I was told that Rhapsody is the bluest.

Just my guess--maybe it's a thing we Katie's have. LOL

I don't think it's Rhapsody. Rhapsody has six. What about Durandi? It could be that one.

I have Durandii and it does not look like that one.

It also does not climb, it has rather stiff stems that flop.
