I have never heard that it's best to let an offset bloom prior to removing it from the mother. However, it's recommended to grow it to maturity, ~12 leaves, before removal because it will pull energy from the mother and grow much faster. I like the look of a specimen plant and leave the offsets with mother whenever I can.

My preferred time to remove offsets is in the spring. This allows for good root growth in the warm months and for the plant to quickly become established.

Thanks Gail, mother nature decided for me to go ahead and seperate them. I was gone over the weekend and I guess a gust of wind knocked over the large plant. I went ahead and seperated them just before the heat wave (97 degrees today and tomorrow). I think they will do nicely apart.
