Kristy, the type IIIs would do much better in a hot climate than the type II large flowering hybrids. Since Jeanne lives in Houston, perhaps she will chime in here and let you know which of the type IIs does better in her hot climate.

Since clematis texensis is native to your home state, I would suggest it also but you will have to order it from another source since I don't think Koi Gardens sells it.

I'm in Round Rock. My clematis do really well.I've had one for about 5 years. It is an unknown and I finally cut it to the ground last spring and it went nuts so i did it again this year and its coming back great. I also got 4 from Silver Star Vinery last year and potted them up until I can figure out where to put them. 2 IIs 2 IIIs. Mixed the pots up so I'll have to wait till they bloom to see which is which. Also have a warsaw nike and dr rupel. The 4 I got last year are John Huxtable,Barbra Harrington, The Bride and Westerplatte.Looking forward to the blooms.

Thank you both. I will check into those. Kim I am very happy to hear yours are doing well. I got my first one on the discount rack at lowes last fall and I thought it was going to die but with a little care it bloomed great in the garage, lol. I would like to plant it outside but if I need to I can have garage blooms again next year, lol. It was such nice surprise to come home to. Round Rock is close enough to me that we should have the same growing conditions. Thanks a lot.

Kristy...every one is correct and have given you great advice..the pruning group 3's are the easiest to grow and very reliable...I have many pruning group 2's as well and they are great...some of them don't seem to double for me but "Crystal Fountain" does all the time..enjoy enjoy...Jeanne

I'm in north Texas. I just started collecting Clematis last year and now have around 60....they are very addictive. I'm very pleased that mine are all starting to leaf out. Have more ordered from Brushwood and Silver Star Vinery...the best place to order them, imho. I think the gorgeous Solina did the best for me as well as Rooguchi.

Thanks everyone. Like I need a new addiction, lol. I already have brugs coming out my ears. I was looking at koi gardens website last night putting a list of wants together and was shocked when I looked down and had 11 of them on there and it was like pulling teeth to choose 5 lol. He told me he would grandfather me in on the sale price until I could ask you all what to order. I sent him an email with my list so hopefully will hear back soon.
