Need your opinion on a trellis...

My Perle d'Azur clematis need a new trellis. This year I'm getting some Pope John Paul II roses to plant in front of them. This rose has large white blooms. I want to get a wood trellis. I'm trying to decide whether to get a natural wood color or a white one. White would look pretty as a background for the Perle d'Azur, but I'm wondering if it would detract from the beautiful white blooms on the Pope.

Opinions please?

Deanna, I tend to agree with you. The white trellis would not show off the white blooms on your rose as would a natural wood colored one.

The natural wood will be much prettier behind a white rose than a white trellis. I have a natural wood picket fence with roses and clematis growing on it and it is a very pretty background for all colors.
