Clematis Rosemoor in the shade

Hi,

My inlaws have an areas shaded by trees. It's not deep shade, but more like dappled shade. I was thinking about installing a Clementis Rosemoor there since they seemed to like the color of the flowers.

The problem is will this work? I notice there is a rose there already, it never blooms due to lack of light (and probably because they dont' feed it). The soil is PH 7.5, slightly clayish.

Another thing, I have never grown anything that requires support. There is a chain fence there, but it's the neighbor's fence, so is the best approach is to stick a trellis against the fence and grow it. How does one train a vine?

Paul
