Please remember:
1. Clivias need a 6 weeks cold break to induce flowering (constant teperature is NOT GOOD!!!
2. More Clivias are killed from over watering than under watering!!!!!!!!!!!1

maimiti, I don't think that would work well. Clivia's have thick fleshy roots, and they can't take much water, or sitting in water anyway. I sit mine in a bowl of water,(only in the warm months and when they are in a growing period), and let them soak up water all night. This is they are throughly watered. Then I take them out, and sit them in a fairly sunny window. I just give them a "tad" of water in the winter, while they are dormant. :) Arum

I agree with both of these posts. The constant temps makes it less likely to see a clivia bloom. If possible, expose it to outdoor low temps (depending upon where you live) of 30-50F for several weeks. Keep them dry and protect from potential frost damage. Mature ones indoors maybe need to be watered every 4-8 weeks. One of the larger growers on the cooler Central CA coast only waters 4 times a year in his expansive greenhouse. Good luck.

Thanks for your inputs. So, in spring I'll move them outdoors and see what happens. Maybe the cool days will give them a kick. Now I think it's probably too cold and there is also the risk of frost.

Maimiti- do you have a window that you could place the Clivia next to? Perhaps that would create a cool enough micro-climate to give it the cold temps it needs thru the winter.

I'd stick w/pots other than self-watering. It'll be safer and you won't have to worry about your Clivia staying wet. Toni
