Almost full sun when in active growth,none when dormant. I woudn't go below 50 when dormant, an when active, keep it in the shade. Yeah, this is kind of hit and miss, but it works for ME! :) Arum

In North America, during the Winter and Autumn, full morning sun or shaded sun all day is okay in the northern latitudes (protected from cold temps and excessive precipitation). As you head further south, you risk burning the plants. In mid Spring all the way into early Sept, I can burn my clivias with morning sun here in Central CA. On the other hand, I saw a wonderful planting of Clivias at South Coast Plaza in Orange County many years ago. It was in an underground parking garage. It has since been removed, but they bloomed year after year in this near dark environment. The key is some light is good, but they can take almost no light and still bloom. Hopefully this helps.

Boy did this help me. I'm trying to over-winter mine inside since I'm in s. Carolina. I have it in a low light, non-heated room which never goes below 50. Hope it can make it until spring......
