Citrus generally don't fruit very rapidly from seed--depending on what type of seeds are grown and what the conditions are, it can take years to get fruit. However, Key limes are supposed to start flower and fruit production at a relatively young age (I cannot speak based on personal experience with that, but I am certain you won't get fruit from Keys this year or even next). I would suggest you do a search on this forum for 'node count'--that should tell you what you need to know about that issue.

Additionally, depending on what type of tangerine you germinated, you may not get a plant that is identical to the parent.

That being said, the best way to handle your new plants is to make sure they're in an a very well-draining & aerated soil to avoid potential issues with root rot (I am assuiming they will be indoors in the cold season since I see you're zone 6 and thus your trees would need to be containerized), provide them with as much light as you can, fertilize with a high-N formula that includes micronutrients like iron and magnesium, and watch out for aphids, scale, mealybug, and assorted other creepy-crawlies.

thanks very much rickjames. They will be in containers on my west facing patio. lots of sun and heat. I really don't expect them to fruit anytime soon, I just like the novelty of growing fruit trees. I plan on buying a meyer lemon tree at the nursery this year so maybe it will fruit. Anyway, thank you for the response.
