Four Winds is a very, very reputable company and they put most of their citrus on Cuban Shaddock, which indeed, will end up being around 8 to 10' in ground. I find Cuban Shaddock does tend to grow a little slower than, say, trees grafted to Carrizo/Troyer or C35 semi-dwarfing rootstock, but my Four Winds trees are very healthy and have done very well in ground for me. You will not be sorry, the root systems are very well developed for their 2 and 3 year old trees.

Patty! I've read many of your posts! You always give great advice. I will most likely purchase a tree from four winds, but I'm wondering if there are any other viable options for finding a tree on c35 or some other semi dwarf root stock.. Seems like many members of this site have been lucky enough to find a semi dwarf tango at their local Lowes. No luck for me though. Too bad I can't take a quick trip to your part of the world and pick one up at the local nursery, haha. And a kishu while I'm at it. Never tried a kishu, but from what you say about them and what I've heard others say, they seem tough to beat!

Well, depends where you are in the US. If you live somewhere other than AZ, FL or TX, you can try Clifton's. They're more expensive, but their trees are potted, which makes it more expensive, but I'm pretty sure they use either Carrizo or C35 for their semi-dwarf trees. Check with them to be sure. If you tell us where you live, perhaps some of our forum members can make some suggestions as where to find a Tango or a Seedless Kishu.

Mandarin, check to see if by "dwarf", the trees really are on true dwarfing rootstock (i.e., 'Flying Dragon', and not a semi-dwarfing rootstock, such as Troyer, Carrizo, C35). Not that many folks use 'Flying Dragon', so I would check, first. Another option in Logee's. Not sure what they've got in stock, but they are definitely another option.
