Seems like a good match to me. I know my Sweet Woodruff grows like crazy, you'll have to keep it trimmed back from the Hellebore.

My target this year is to trim back the woodruff from the empimedium.

I don't know that woodruff would overtake and strangle hellebores. I have my hellebores (under a huge 80' oak) planted with primulas and astilbe. Other shrubs within the bed are clethra 'hummingbird', ev. azalea 'salmon elf', dec. azalea 'yellow eyes' along with ilex pedunculosa.

Actually the work in this bed will be to extract the ostrich ferns (which are making me forget of the creeping hydranga that needs to get jumpstarted up that oak).
