They have very large root system for 2.5" pots. Bluestone sells Donahue's babies.

Thanks for the tip. I just bought three: Jackmanii, Julia Correvon and Nelly Moser. I've always wanted a Nelly Moser. I think I will plant these at work - 2 in an atrium and one outside the back door.

Donahue's is here in MN I went to visit their garden center one time. The garden centers in my area also sell plants from Donahue's. I have a number of them and they have a good root system and have done well for me. I am going to take a look at Bluestone and check the prices.

I am not going to look and yall don't tell me what they have :-) I still have 8 more waiting to be planted and that may not happen until fall now. Have fun, they have wonderful sales and their clematis have done well for me if potted up first.

Such enablers in this forum! I just placed my order for 4 of them. Claire De Lune, Crystal Fountain, Venosa Violacea, and Ville de Lyon. I threw in a few perennials that I was looking for too!

Boo hoo, Betty Corning isn't on sale! :( I've been waiting all year to get that one. Love Bluestone's/Donahue's clem! Bought 5 during last year's sale and they are all up and running, especially the viticellas.

I'm glad you like the sale. Donahue's Clematis always did well for me, no matter where I bought them. Roseluvr, I would buy Betty as well... Actually, I only needed Venosa Violacea, but I ended up buying 6 Clematis for some reason :)

If Donahue's clematis are sold by Bluestone and you are getting them for 50% off, then you are getting a great deal for about $6 per plant. My first three viticellas were from Donahues and they did wonderfully well. I got three last fall from Donahues--Royal Velours, Prince Charles, and Carmencita. Potted them up in gallon sized pots and grew them out over the winter and into February when we had a warm spell and I ended up planting them in the ground. Here they are today doing just great.
