Nitrogen deficiency does not cause Chlorosis.

If it is Chlorotic, gotta be iron or magnesium. Try some MirAcid by Miracle Gro.

I have a clematis with bright yellow leaves, green veins. I'm guessing that it has a nutrient deficiency as well. Not sure what kind, though. If I can use miracid to solve the problem, how much to apply? I have the slow release (osmocote-like) kind.

BorS, why Miracid? Miracid is for acid loving plants. If you want to add iron why not use Ironite and for Magnesium why not use epsom salts?

Just bumping because I am confused about this problem and really want to address it before it gets out of hand.

My clematis with the problem is in a raised bed in the middle of two other clematis which seem to be healthy. That's why I don't understand how it could be a nutritional deficiency. Wouldn't the other two show symptoms as well?

I really don't want to get the soil tested, it costs $15 and honestly the clematis came with our house, they weren't my first choice. I don't have any idea what kind they are, I'm not emotionally attached to them (like I am my climbing hydrangeas). We did transplant the clematis plants early spring this year, could the yellowing and green veins have something to do with it?

If it is a magnesium deficiency, try epsom salts. I have used it to green up the leaves on brugmansias before. You can find it really cheap at most drugstores versus purchasing it at a garden center. Start out using 2 or 3 tablespoons per half gallon and water the plant with this. Repeat again after 4 or 5 days. It works wonders on my brugs and I typically just dump it into their pots and it gets watered in as I water the plants.
