Jim, since it has bloomed You might want to feed it. If you did in the early spring, it would be ok to feed it again, I give mine Alfalfa tea, made from Alfalfa meal or pellets or cubes. You can also give it a 10-10-10 or any type of food for roses. Alot of member recommend Rose Tone.
The first year for clematis is usually very slow, even the second year, I usually have a few blooms, then it stops. You should get some new growth through the summer,
I don't have a Markhams Pink, but the pictures on google are beautiful, it is in the group 1 pruning.
I am sure some of the experts will chime in and give you some good advice. Clematis take patience and don't reach their full potential until the third or fourth year, in my experience.

Where are you located generally?

I am in Western Washington State- North of Seattle. I am a little worried about it not getting enough sun, if I can get it to grow the vines will get nice sun on the trellis, but low to the ground the sun is limited to about 5 hours a day.

I will try the Alfalfa which I have not done. I have a couple other clematis in another part of my yard which I got at a different place that are doing well, though not starting to flower yet (just planted last fall as well).

I'm in Portland and most of mine do not get full sun. Clematis are very slow to get started.

Pinch the tips back and give it some alfalfa pellets. They are cheap at feed/farm/ranch stores, you want bagged alfalfa pellets for horses. they don't have weeds seed or salt added.

I toss them all over my yard. Daylilies, hostas and Clematis showed great results with more vines, more eyes, more flowers

I picked up alfalfa pellets, how much approx do you use. My plan is to soak them in a bucket and apply them to the three clematis I am trying to grow. Also do climbing roses like the same thing or should I stick to something like rosetone? Obviously new to these plants....

You don't need to soak them. Just toss a handful around the base of the plants. I don't measure. I literally toss a handful, I do have small hands, even for a woman....they are excellent for roses too. I do also use Rose Tone on both Clematis and roses.
