All I can say is, it's very pretty. Wish I could help you out. I would like to see what other people think it is. I wouldn't mind having one like that. Are you sure it's a clematis? Stems look really woody and thick.

I think golden ca 2000 may be correct. I checked clematis on the web, and flowers are similar. Where did you purchase yours golden ca?

The thick wooden stems are on the shrub it is climbing :)

I now have 25 clematis - how can you tell they are my very favorite!!! :0) Problem is I am running out of spots to put them - and there are just SOOO many I would like to have - lol. My husband has made me a couple of really nice planters and I wanted to plant a couple on a large tree in my back yard - so I bought a oak wine barrel and my husband cut out the back of it and made it so the back wood curves inward and now it fits tight to the tree. When the clematis get growing I am sure it will be lovely!! I wish I knew how to post a picture. golden

It's, indeed does look like a 'Madame Le Coultre' ('Mevrouw Le Coultre'), not a 'Marie Boisselot'

Still curious why it blooms so early for me.

Yes, old woody stems are from 30' feet long hedge of ancient semi-dead yews where beside clems I grow several different vines including akebia (monster!) and cl.hydrangea.

No, it's definitely not Lanuginosa Candida, I grow that one. It has a first blooms in June and blooms on and off till September.
Guernsey Cream have a match by May bloom, but mine doesn't have that unique green striping on petals and anthers are not pure yellow.
So far 'Madame Le Coultre' is the closest match by appearance.

It is most definitely my favourite spring clematis: Guernsey Cream :) It does have green bars when young, even though you can't see it that well in the pics. It does re-bloom for me with just a few flowers later on in the season.
