Your question may actually be one of maintenance and cost vs aesthetic.

Is the factory applied finish going to last you longer than your own painted finish? Will you be painting and repainting the trim every five to ten years (hateful) If so, does this make a difference in your decision?

Is the factory applied finish close to the color that you would choose to apply yourself, and if so, is there a substantial cost differentiation?
