My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

New Clematis at Brushwood

Got an automatic email from Dan Long at Brushwood Nursery and it appears he has added quite a few new choices to his offerings. It is way too hot here for me to consider ordering any more clematis, just trying to keep what I have alive, but some of you in the cooler zones may still be able to plant. If not, there is always this fall!

    I have ordered from Joy Creek several times and tend to pot their clematis up to grow out before planting in the garden. I have had more success doing that then plunking them directly in the garden.

    I have ordered clems from Joy Creek a couple of times before and their plants have done well for me. Miguel is more experienced and I'm sure it does get them off to a good start if you pot them for a year but I just plant them directly in the garden. They're bigger than what you would get from Bluestone and I have not had any problem after planting them immediately. Their service has always been good in the past too. No bad experiences to report.

    I got three integrifolias from Joy Creek this spring (Zoin, Juuli and Sizaia Ptitsa). They had amazingly robust roots, and I planted them out right away. All three look like they're about to set buds.

    I ordered a viticella from them just last week and will pot it up and plant it in the fall. But a friend of mine just ordered her first ever clematis from Joy Creek, Romantika; she planted it right away and it has three gorgeous blooms! She is deaf to my urgings to cut it back the first year, and those three blooms don't help.

    Is my brief experience that the integrifolias seem more mature and plant-ready than the longer vines typical?

    Not really noticed that butterclem. I am sure it would vary depending on the maturity and root systems on the plants you receive moreso than a specific variety.
