So my wife just called and she is heartbroken - our clematis, planted last year and thriving this year (about 7 or 8ft now) and was starting to bud when our excited puppy accidentally ran into it and broke it off about 6 inches from the ground.

I realize this won't create long term problems, but is there anything we can do to save it for the summer so it might still bloom? I wish we could just reattach things somehow, but assume that's impossible. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, my wife is so disappointed and I'd really like to make her feel better.
