take a few cuttings--easy in perlite/vermiculite--4-6 inches with at least 1 set of leaf nodes under the surface. Then you'll have a backup if you lose the mother plant. I would expect it to be root hardy at best. Also there's some thought that it's better not to cut back the dead stems until after danger of spring frost is past because water can get into the hollow stems, freeze, and do damage under the soil surface.

Mine overwinter last 3 yrs, but long time to bounce up in spring.

Mine was one of the variegated forms (not from PDN) which crept out of its flower pot and invaded the garden. The plants that pop up in the spring (late) each year are no longer speckled but they come back every year.
