I moved into a house 7 years ago. The previous owners were in the house for 6 years, planted a SAC next to the deck on the north side of the house. Basically the root area got very little to no sun. For 7 years I could hardly control the plant. It grew so much up and over the deck rails I often had to prune all summer. It bloomed every year. After the leaves fell in late fall I would prune drastically only leaving about 3' of the main stem in tact. For some reason this year the plant is not growing. I think it's dead. I know it could be a number of issues but do they have any type of lifespan. Once they get too large do you have to dig up and reduce the root mass. Just wondering what may have happened.
