Clematis Newbie with Questions

Last summer I planted my first clematis. It didn't appear to do anything and by the end of the summer I assumed it died.

Well, I was completely wrong! Rebecca is already 2 feet long and I had two blooms. They really are an amazing, true red.

So questions.

I assume I need to tie it to the trellis for now.

When should I prune it? And should I prune at all this year?

Any other advice?

Thanks so much for any help!
