Prune it halfway down after it blooms and fertilize.

Mine only blooms once and I really can't prune it down after it blooms as I'm using it for a privacy screen. I wish I chose something that bloomed longer. Mine certainly does not bloom three months. More like three weeks.

I have to agree "with blooms for only three weeks." I think these nurseries are misleading the public.

Mine bloomed early in the spring and has been blooming off and on since then so it definitely blooms for me almost all season long and this is with no severe pruning yet to get this long blooming period.

I hafta agree with Miguel..I have 3 "Ramonas" and they have the most wonderful flush of blooms in Spring and then I have blooms on it constantly all season somewhere..this clematis is the most awesome as it blooms on both old and new vines for me...I treat it as a pruning group 2..I think your pruning might have affected it not blooming like ours..fertilize it and then just leave it alone and let it grow..Mine is already about 5 feet tall..Jeanne

Mine is over five years old and was never hard pruned but has never bloomed more than three weeks in spring. :(

Now, Daniel Deronda blooms for three months for me with no deadheading or pruning.

Only goes to show what I have said time and time again--that being that each clematis will act differently in different gardens. That what I find so frustrating when someone asks a question about how long a certain clematis blooms or when it blooms. It will all depend on so many factors that all anyone can do is say how it acts in their garden and that individual results may vary! LOL Sounds like a disclaimer on way too many products doesn't it?

I went out and took a pic just now..LOL..I have 4 blooms and some buds..never know where they'll be..2 at the top and 2 at the bottom..it's always putting out new vines from the leaf Axil..

Yes, it is very true that where we live and garden is a huge factor in bloom time and duration as well as most everything else with gardening.
