Living in the south, the only color that mine has is the pinkish coloration on the backside of the tepals. Colors bleach more easily the further south you live.

Lois..."Huldine" is white with a slight lavender coloured edges on the tepal..rarely noticeable...how come yours took that long to bloom?...Are you hard pruning it each year?..Is it getting plenty of sun...Miguel is correct..the further South you go..those lavender edges fade to white...Clematis "Huldine" adores tons of sun..especially in your temperate zone...Jeanne

I really have no idea why it took so long to bloom except that I didn't hard prune it the first two years but I did this Spring. That probably did it. Its planted on a arbor with Etoile V. which is such a vigorous bloomer.
Actually, we have not had really warm weather yet in Iowa.Cool wet spring and then all the rain and flooding. I have only had the air conditioner on one day so far which is great for the utility bill!

Lois..that is the reason...one must hardprune to get results on those that bloom on the newly grown vines during the season..I am sure your mild cool, wet season has set "Huldine" back from performing as it should..while all my Pruning group 3's bloom in May..people in colder zones don't see them to start blooming till late June...I have some that are already on round 2.If "Etoile Violette" is happy there so shall "Huldine"!!..enjoy enjoy...Jeanne
