I would like to grow something on the front of the garage. Once repainted (this weekend), I thought I'd plant a clematis beside it (shaded in the afternoon) and let it wrap around and over the door (full sun in afternoon).

I have a Jackmanii looking for a home. But now that I look at it, I wonder if this is this enough room for it a few years down the road?

I like the idea of the Jackmanii there because of the color and because the garage will need a fair bit of work in the next few years, so having to cut the plant down in the spring to make room for that is a good thing.

Will this work? The door to the garage opens inward, so a little overhang isn't a problem. Bees probably would be, though.
