I originally had the clematis "the president" planted in a small circular flower bed beside a flag pole in front of my house. For some reason, I thought this clematis had died and that most of it has been pulled up.

I then decided to plant clematis "polish spirit" in this spot. The polish spirit hasn't grown very much, it's nice and healthy but only at a height of 8 inches maybe. I recently noticed that there seems to be some green peeking through the soil directly behind the polish spirit, could this be the president and if so, could that be why the polish spirit isn't growing very high?

If this is the case, should I remove the polish spirit and plant it somewhere else, would it be alright to do that now? I'm pretty sure that earlier this summer, I pulled a weed out behind the polish spririt that I believe now was the preident. I think the only way to know for sure is to move the polish spirit and wait to see if the president grows there next summer.

Any thoughts or adivce is greatly appreciated.
