destroy wilted vine?

I have a "violet charm" that turned mostly blak leaved this week.It happened last summer but the vine recovered in late summer. It has a phlox in front of it that shades it some, but most of the vine gets a fair amount of sun.When it blooms it is spectacular, but only one flower this season.From what I have read it most likely has clematis wilt.
