Clematis Help

I have several Clematises and two of them seem to have something wrong with them. The leaves are turning black like they are burnt and the vines seem weak and spindly. Any idea what may be causing this and how to correct it? Thank you in advance for any help and advice you might give.

Could be fungus could be typical behavior. The correction is to cut back to healthy growth, fertilize and keep well watered.

Unless hard pruned when planted and for several years many Clematis will be weak and spindly.
