I don't grow Chinook, but do grow several other Integrifolia clems. I have them growing in wire enclosures (along the lines of tomato cages), up through gridded supports intended as perennial supports, but with taller legs added, and leaning against shrubs.

I planted Gazelle and Chinook in a large pot with a common trellis and both have done very well, producing white and blue bell shaped flowers as advertised. Both need to be tied to the trellis or they will just flop over the sides of the pot. I was surprised to find they tolerate heavy duty heat well in the summer (3 heat spells over 100 degrees) in central CA.
