will it root?

I have just re potted my clematis and while doing so it was so brittle it broke off a piece of the stem. I put it in water to see if it would get roots on it and possibly have another plant. Is this possible that it will get roots and grow or am I wasting my time?

Clematis won't root in water, sorry. You would be better off sticking the cutting into the soil and hoping, but cuttings are very difficult to root. Try it, though, you could get lucky.
