SAC Question

Hello, I've never posted to this Forum before but have been around GardenWeb for a couple years. Here's my question: I'd love to have a SAC but don't have a place that is obvious for this large vine. Soooooo, please help me out here w/suggestions.

1.) Can SAC be used as a groundcover vine similar to climbing hydrangea? If so, will it scramble through/around perennials? Or, will it just gobble up whatever else is planted in the bed?

2.) They climb by tendrils so won't stick to the bark of a tree, correct? However, could I build a chickenwire cage around a very large tree and let it climb through that?

3.) How much shade can they take & still bloom well? I live in coastal Ct, Zone 6(b).

4.) Can they be pruned hard year after year and kept to a much smaller size...say around then feet?

5.) Any other suggestions for placement of a SAC when I don't have a chain link fence or other obvious structure to let it ramble through?

Thanks for the help.
