Clematis needs a name

I bougtht this clematis at a nursery last year and it

didn't have a name tag, I wanted it b/c it was red, but

I sure thought it would have larger flowers.This is

the first year for it, and is a slow grower. I have

others that grow fast. The pic looks like a large flower

but it isn't as large as some of my others.Any help on a

name ?

The color looks like my Ernest Markham, but I'm not sure from your picture how big the flowers actually are.

Thanks for looking, mine is a slow grower, and the flowers
are 3 inches wide, smaller than the pic looks. If it would
grow faster I wouldconsider keepit it. I will give it another year, just planted it last Oct. 'o7 One side
has grown more than the other one. Happy gardening

I don't recognize it either. Clematis do take several years to really get going. I would give it 2 more years to let it get established. The flower is very pretty. Hopefully it will really start to grow for you next year and reward you with much larger blooms.
