I have no experience growing clematis from seed and can't answer your questions from my experience. However, Brian Collingswood's web site has a lot of information about growing clematis from seed.

You've also picked one of the easiest from seed. Although a cold period isn't required, I've found they break dormancy much easier with a cold period. These things sprout like crazy around the base of my own plant...but not until late spring/early summer.

So, sow them now, keep them in an unheated garage (or equivalent) for a while, then bring them in.

I had the same question. Im going to sow all the seeds I have. Do you remove the tail? If these are easy to grow from seed. About how long will it take before they become little plants I can put in the ground? Novice question. Thankyou.
