Meiwa pruning advice

I planted a 5-gallon Meiwa about 3 months ago and it's really taking off. I need to keep this plant tidy as it is in a rather confined space. Any tips on how best to prune a kumquat tree?

Also - the branch that forms the "trunk" of this growing tree is not growing, whereas most other branches are putting of new growth. Any way to encourage this part of the tree to catch up with the rest?

As your first question .This is my thaughts.....

If you are looking for fruit dont prune if your looking for growth prune not more than 1/4 of the current growth..

If the tree you have is airlayered or propagated other than being grafted on a drarf rootstock..The tree will be full grown

If your tree is grafted on a dwrarf root stock keep it in a smaller pot..

Although your above posting does not say container or planted in soil outside
