I have a lovely patch of chanterelles not far from the old house that must be torn down. I'm afraid that the demolition and clearing for construction will ruin the patch. In particular, a very large tree must come down and the roots will no doubt be under the chanterelles at some point. Can anyone tell me if I move the soil, carefully, where the chanterelles are growing, if they might come back next year in a new, but similar, place? Thanks so much for your help! Rosemary
