Most people do love cosmos for their old fashioned charm. They add a bit of whimsy to the country bouquet.

The Versailles series was bred especially for cutting. This one blooms under short days which makes it suitable for greenhouse production during the winter months. This variety is shorter, and more wind resistant than Sensation.

For field production we grow two of the Sensation: Dazzler and Purity. If the seeds are started early in plug trays in the greenhouse, they will bloom earlier in the season. Otherwise, they are a late season crop (late August, early September). Per ounce, Sensation is one-quarter the price of Versailles. Anyway, they are both cosmos, bipinnatus.
