I have always loved ferns and wanted them in my yard but have never bought any for some reason. Today I went to Lowes, having finally decide to purchase one and I found them on sale for $1 each! These are large ferns (gallon size buckets) and seem fairly healthy except for the fact that they have overgrown the pots they are in.

I would like to divide them so that I can plant them in more locations. What is the healthiest way to divide ferns? Thank you!

PS They are Kimberly Queen Ferns if that makes a difference.
