I have quite a few Narcissus 'Cheerfulness' and 'Yellow Cheerfulness' that I like to cut. If I'm going to sell them quickly or give them as a gift I usually select stems that have one open bud and several closed buds. The closed buds will open later and give the stem a longer perceived vase life. One thing I like about these small double Narcissi is that they deteriorate a bit more gracefully than the single forms. Since the flower form is already scrunched it isn't so readily apparent that they are fading. If you are selling them to a florist or auction they will likely want all the buds closed.
