Pouring rain here at the moment. Don't have any ideas yet for a trivia answer, although I've certainly watched plenty of Bugs Bunny cartoons in my youth, and probably Mickey Mouse too.

Cynthia, whatever they pay you, it's not enough. I wouldn't have lasted long in teaching doing your job. You have my undying admiration.

Hot, hot day here. We could use some rain, small chance tonight.

I have known and appreciated those who teach in special education classes since I first taught in the 60s. I'm sure it is a more difficult job now. Thanks, Cynthia, for taking on this difficult task.

Now, just stop all of you! I could never manage a year with a general education class. I am definitely feeling the time crunch to do everything now that I am a "classroom teacher" again as opposed to an inclusion teacher who shares classes with a couple of general ed teachers! All the clerical requirements eat away at your time! Ugh. However, all in all, I have to say that it is never boring and there are so many wonderful moments that I often think of the John Prine song, "How Lucky Can One Man (woman?) Get?"

This first weekend, though, is finding me tuckered out a bit. I may manage a Walk if I don't end up in the garden and tonight I may just gaze at a Star or two-if any are visible with all the ground light here.

Ooh, got it now. This was one of my original thoughts.

With this heat I have been waiting until evening to work in the gardens. Often at night I take a moment before going in to sit in the dark appreciating the sight and fragrances and look at the stars. Though we are in the suburbs of Mpls there is enough darkness that I can see some of the shooting stars from the annual August meteor shower.

Is take-out on the menu tonight, TM? Always a good choice! ;)

We have a nursery near here called Holly, Woods, and Vines. I have always thought that was clever. As a kid, we went to Disneyland, but our visit coincided with the Watts riots, so we didn't actually go into LA. Too bad.

This week the kids will be writing their goals (hopes and dreams) for this year. I think I may create a Wall of Fame for them where they can track their successes.

I just had an idea! I am going to ask the assistant principal of our program if we can paint stars with the names of our "Student of the Week" on them on the floor tiles. How does that sound Nancy?

I was watching a cartoon with my darling niece a few weeks ago, and it was Mickey and Minnie, something about a delivery of croissants. I'm not sure how old it was.
Can you believe the Flintstones are over 50?!!!

Well, Bugs and Mickey were the first two, but Donald Duck, Snow White, Shrek, Winnie the Pooh and Woody Woodpecker also did this.

Welcome back, Laura, we missed you too.

It was so hot today that DH went to a large grocery store for his daily walk. In the winter we sometimes walk in a Costco which is closer than the indoor walking facility. Costco was already closed before he could go today.

I got all my walking done while shopping earler. Stopped at a nursery and big box store to look at plants but didn't buy any. Tomorrow I will pot up some plants to take to a swap on Monday. The plan is to take lots and bring back only a few.

Nancy, that Hugh Jackman video is so funny. He looks so young and the whole thing is pretty hokie! Of course, so is the movie. I love musicals, but mostly the Lerner/Lowe and Rodgers/Hammerstein ones even though som are goofy.

So, for yesterday, four stars for TM and Bobbie. Mickey and Bugs were the first two cartoon characters to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to those I already mentioned, the Rugrats, the Simpsons, and Tinker Bell have gotten stars.
