High temps reducing cuts?

I am in my second year of growing cut flowers for farmers' markets. I did a decent job of succession planting this spring/summer, but have seen a dramatic drop off in flower production in later plantings.

I suspect that prolonged temperatures above 95 degrees have slowed vegetative growth in plants that were not established prior to the high temps. Is this a reasonable explanation and if so, what can I do next year to avoid a production gap?
Thanks,
Mike
