Beautiful here today.

Hi all. After our 2-3 days of really cold weather for us, down into the low 30's with the wind chill factor making it feel like the 20's, today is just beautiful. I hate to rub it in, but this is the kind of weather we wait for for 9 months or so. It is 73, a nice breeze, light humidity, and partly cloudy. After months of heat and humidity this is wonderful!

DH worked up in the attic today, taking out old insulation and vacuuming up debris, getting ready to lay new insulation and flooring. He is also putting foam board on the roof side of attic to help cut down the heat too. It is really going to be much nicer in our little cottage after this is all done. We are hoping to get it done before the summer heat and humidity get here again. It's great to be going through stuff in the attic too, getting rid of some of it and re-boxing and arranging the rest.

We found a portfolio of some wonderful old watercolor nudes that we have been wondering where the dickens they got to. Bought them at the flea market many, many years ago. They are very nice.

There are other goodies up there too I'm sure and we'll be unearthing them too with this project.

Anyway, hope all of you up north are staying warm and safe and healthy. I'll try to get some pictures taken to post later. I've got some seedlings from the seed swap to get planted and hope to do that this week.

Hi Flower, I also have spent the last several days in the attic trying to declutter without throwing out anything that might be useful to anyone I may know or get to know in the next decade or so, not an easy task but 8 bags of useless stuff later I feel great!
Friends of mine suffered an arson Halloween fire destroying their huge barn and much to their surprise felt relief at not having to take care of so much "stuff". That was years ago but the lesson has always been in the back of my mind.
I will always need "that drawer" that looks like (well you know)but has the promise of hope when you really need that something or other, but I am trying hard to have less of those ???? spaces in my life!
As to your weather....I can find out where you live, and hunt you down,LOL M

Flowerlady it was beautiful here today too. My foot was strong enough that we could take the construction left overs out of the basement and bring the furniture (luckily it's all light) back and set the basement up. I want all the furniture re-covered, but for now it looks fine - and clean. It was so nice.
I did not take before pictures of the basement, but it was kind of scary. Dirty, this horrible dirty blue and the scariest floor. It is so nice and bright now - what a lovely space. It will double as our guest room.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to walk to work (it's a trial, since I haven't been able to work) and then see if the foot holds up to do some gardening! It's supposed to be nice here all week.

You are just going to love your attic once it's taken care of. We had ours done with spray insulation. Everything was sprayed simply because it was worth the price doing so much at once. It is so much nicer climate wise in here now! It makes a huge difference in the basement.

Hope you continue to enjoy more lovely days,

We're also having beautiful weather with highs in the upper 70's. It seems like everyone in our neighborhood took advantage of the weather and worked outside. Our curbs are littered with tree branchs and shrubs awaiting garbage pick up. I was out there, too, raking leaves and pine needles to put into my compost bin. I have a bit of spring fever, and it took alot of self-control to keep from direct sowing several seeds from the seed swap. ( Still a bit early for several things to be sown.)

It didn't help to see the onion sets and potatos arriving in the local nurserys! :-) I want to plant, plant, plant!

Beautiful here this week, too. I was just outside in my shirt sleeves looking at the garden. Lots of deer tracks, but no damage from them. My Dutch Iris bulbs have been sprouted for awhile, but didn't seem to get much damage from the heavy frosts over the last few weeks.

Still need more rain. Same old sad song. :-(

During the last rain, we had thunder and lightning! You know what that means? My grandma would say it's going to snow soon. It seems to work out that way!

Martha ~ It does feel great 'de-cluttering'. We just need to keep at it. Being a couple of packrats doesn't help any. Oh my gosh, I have a couple of those drawers too. :-)

GGG ~ You know we are looking forward to seeing pictures of your new/old place when you get it all set up. You must be so happy to be back home. Lucky for us our cottage is tiny, DH does several attic bays at once, usually 2-3, clearning out old insulation, vacuuming up debris, the laying down resin paper then new insulation and plywood over that for flooring. We're not getting any younger and hope this will last us the rest of our lives. Owning your own place, there is always something that needs doing. How did walking to work go? Hope your foot feels better with each new day and that you get to play in your gardens this week.

Marilyn ~ Glad to hear you are having gorgeous weather also. I can imagine how much you are looking forward to planting. You are planning a veggie garden bed this year aren't you?

Cameron ~ Glad the deer didn't do any damage to your gardens. Hope you get some rain or snow soon. We also need rain. We've had dribs and drabs but nothing like we need. The new construction going on is draining our water supply and the big lake is low so we will start on one day a week watering on the 15th.

Today was another beautiful day here for us too. DH was in the attic again. I was out trimming stuff along the driveway, then mowed. I then came in to vaccuum and dust, fun stuff, and around lunch my boss called and asked if I'd come in to work tomorrow. He left work soon after as he's still not feeling so hot after a horrific cold he got over new years.

So, I'm glad I got to play outside for two days. Still a lot more to do, as it's never ending here, but things will have to wait for the gardener to come back again and do her thing. : -)

Enjoy the beauty of each new day, rain or shine, snow or clear skies.
