I can't help you with the solar electric fence, but I can say that using 2" by 4" wire mesh fencing that is 6' high usually works (the green plastic coated stuff). You don't need six foot high posts (4-5' is enough), and probably a bit less expensive. The fencing is almost invisible at 100' and should last for years.

The solar electric fence will keep out other critters, like my neighbours cows, but not deer. I baited mine with apples and they definately tried them, resulting in them leaving the apples on the wire alone. But they kept coming back and soon they jumped the fence and it was game over. You are better off to build a high enough fence that they can't jump over or use a spray product. I use eggs and that works great, reapply after watering.
