I have a west facing fence that gets dappled shade for most of the day but hot, full sun after 2:00pm. My problem is that most plants that would like the shady mornings would burn in the hot afternoon sun, and those that wouldn't mind the hot sun wouldn't like the shady mornings. I'd like to grow vines or shrubs that could be espaliered or grown close to the fence, and flowers or colorful berries would be nice.

Any ideas?
