How about making some tall arbors out of PVC pipe or bamboo or other inexpensive materials and then planting them with different annual and evergreen vines. I do have a septic system and have trees all around it but I use the tree root destroyer you can buy in the plumbing sections and put it down the toilet. After ten years we have had no problems and get the tank inspected/pumped every two years. This was their suggestion and it has been a winner. Does not bother the trees as they are now 60' tall pine, tulip poplar, oak, and maples.

I have planted a border of shrubs on each end of the leach bed, and in one corner I kind of recycled. I had an old swingset that had been taken down because it was falling apart. But the double swing (I don't know what else to call it) was still in pretty good shape. I took the seats off and turned it upside down into concrete blocks and planted a trumpet vine that a friend gave me. I plan to train the vine up and over the upside down swing making it into a small arbor.
